Customer Profile:
LaCrosse Footwear, Inc.

LaCrosse Footwear, Inc. is a leading developer and marketer of high-performance, protective footwear. The company’s trusted Danner ® and LaCrosse ® brands are sold in the United States , Canada , Europe and Asia , with customers ranging from law enforcement officers, firefighters and construction workers to hunters, hikers and anyone else who enjoys the outdoors. The company participates at the Gold level in PGE’s Clean Wind SM program.

Why did LaCrosse Footwear decide to purchase renewable energy?

LaCrosse Footwear made the decision to go renewable because they simply believed it was the right thing to do. As one of the few companies that still produce footwear in the United States, LaCrosse wanted to set an example by powering their corporate office, distribution center and factory entirely with wind energy.

As Craig Cohen, vice president of international sales, puts it, “We are not doing this to ‘greenwash’ consumers. Rather, it represents a core belief that reducing our environmental footprint is important. If our customers agree with us, that’s a plus.”

What are some of LaCrosse Footwear's other “green” initiatives?

LaCrosse Footwear has established a ‘Green Team’ that focuses on a number of renewable-oriented initiatives. Recent efforts include improving recycling and changing to at least 30 percent post-consumer waste paper. They have also instituted various business process improvements that incorporate a focus on going paperless.
